We are seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to support rail works across the PTA network (OTF). The role requires a proactive, hands-on safety professional with strong rail experience, excellent communication skills, and proven capability working within a Tier One business environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, monitoring, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and training-related systems and initiatives
  • Provide HSE support across rail works on the PTA network
  • Conduct site pre-starts, toolbox talks, and safety briefings
  • Undertake breathalyser testing in accordance with project and client requirements
  • Review, implement, and monitor SWMS and risk assessments
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, rail safety requirements, and client standards
  • Support and advise line management in meeting health and safety legislative and due diligence obligations
  • Deliver health and safety training, inductions, and awareness sessions across site work areas as required
  • Work collaboratively with site teams to conduct work area inspections, in-field task observations, and verification of critical control effectiveness
  • Assist with minor accident and incident investigations, including reporting and corrective actions
  • Monitor and assess the site’s emergency preparedness, response capability, and associated equipment to ensure readiness and compliance
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant health, safety, and training records
  • Act as a visible, approachable, and effective safety presence on site
Essential Requirements
  • Proven rail industry experience (mandatory)
  • Solid HSE experience within construction or infrastructure environments
  • Experience working within a Tier One business environment
  • Demonstrated experience with SWMS, risk assessments, and safety management systems
  • Experience conducting breathalyser testing, pre-starts, and toolbox talks
  • Ability to assist with minor accident and incident investigations
  • Current RIW Card
  • Supervised Worker Training certification (completed)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Availability to work night shifts and weekends (significant night shift / weekend work required)
Desirable
  • Relevant WHS/HSE qualifications
  • Previous experience working on the PTA network or similar rail networks

  • Start Date: 9th February (Contract approx. 1 month)
  • Pay Rate: $55-$75 per hour (dependent on experience)
